Estelle Burton
Estelle is a jewellery designer who is fascinated by glass. She has recently completed a research based Masters in Jewellery Design at Central St Martins. For her graduate collection she worked with the last remaining UK based scientific glass makers to repurpose niche technical glass pieces that have been discarded.
She combines these glass objects with precious metals and gemstones, both literally and metaphorically setting these salvaged objects within the traditional materials and techniques of fine jewellery, questioning our ideas of preciousness and value.
Estelle’s incredible complex jewellery structures play with light, colour and shadow. Light passes through the coloured glass creating colourful kaleidescopic effects on the skin of the wearer so that they both wear and become the jewellery.
